Halvsie Pride by yasashiiko Halvsie Pride by yasashiiko
So I've been searching and searching and couldn't find a stamp for my specific uh... "racial/cultural makeup". So I had to make one to at least post on my journal. ;p

Halvsie refers specifically to half Japanese and half another nationality (in my case, that would be American). Hapa refers to mixed blood in general. I would like to see a stamp of that, but alas, no such find. I might make one myself, but if anyone does make one, please let me know.

:bulletred:halvsie.com:bulletred:

And if you're curious:
Mom = Japanese (first generation)
Dad = American (German + English)
Me = 1/2 Japanese + 1/2 American. :w00t:

Used $zilla774's stamp template for this. :aww:

Yeah. There are very few if any half stamps. I did this one for me since I'm half Japanese. ^_^ Why don't you make your own?

I forgot where I found the term. I think it was on Wiki and it was in reference to mix of any Asian with anything other than Asian. "Hapa" is similar, but it just means mixed in general and "hafu" (I believe) is the Japanese term for mixed Japanese and something else. Haha! I can't believe I still remember this after all these years. I also like the term "mixie" cus it sounds cute, but it's not really an official term. ^_^

Thank you! Even though my mom is first generation, she unfortunately didn't teach us Japanese. >_< My dad was often gone on missions so she spoken English to us so when he was home we could all speak as a family. It was with good intentions, but I wish I knew my mother tongue.

I was looking for something like this!:XD: Something that indicate HAPA or ハーフ...it's really Japanese thing I know... having mix background is such a common thing in West but it used to be a minority thing in Japan.I've been ハーフ for so long & I like your 'half Asian and all Amazing' bit I thought I should have it on my page :heart:=D (as much as I hated this turm when I was kid, after I found out hapa artist group in Japan it became rather positive thing!)

Thanks for using it on your page. :aww: I actually never called myself a "halvsie". I called myself a "mutt" or "halfie". I just found that term online and it was all "official". So I thought I would use it. :shrug:

Cool. :D I'm 3/8ths German ethnically. I think my family goes back something like 5 generations in America and before that we were in Germany and Britain. Strangely the smallest part of me (1/8th English) is where my last name comes from. ;p

:D Actually I was originally going to make one of those then I stumbled upon the term "halvsie" and had to make that instead. You could always make one yourself. I see you've got at least one stamp in your gallery. What mix are you? Assuming you're mixed...

I just recently read Death Note. On onemanga.com. It was interesting because I love murder mysteries (like Case Closed) and shounen over shoujo. But I think I got really annoyed with Raito or Light (whichever) talking in his own head all the time. Sorry. ^^; It was a good read while it lasted. Mikami, huh? I was surprised when he seemed to go literally insane in the end. He was so put together and calculating initially. :no:

Yeah, it's ok. Light wasn't exactly my favorite character. I was surprised too, but I guess if you saw your "god" totally denounce your existence, you'd be pretty upset. You should read the novel, "Death Note: Another Note" if you like murder mysteries. It takes place before the whole Death Note thing where L has to solve a case with a serial killer. It's pretty good.

There is a short one shot that I found by the same artist. It involved the yakuza, and had really good art (of course) but a so-so plot. Where do I find Death Not: Another Note? Online somewhere? I don't really buy manga unless I already love the series and I know it has an ending (as in it doesn't go on forever like Shounen Jump types).
